Hey all! In a few weeks the MoCCA Art Fest will be going on in New York City, and I will be exhibiting with my friends and Ashley Quigg! We'll be at table L7, right next to ! I'll have copies of the first collection for Beyond the Canopy, as well as some pins and hopefully a brand new mini-comic called "Business Snails."

The MoCCA Art Fest will be on April 9th and 10th, at the 69th Regiment Armory Building on Lexington, between 25th and 26th St (same place as last year). Stop on by if you get a chance, it's a great place full of wonderful creators!

So for the past few months I've been working on some packing slips for Fangamer--longer than I should have been really, but life kept getting in the way and saying "Hey you can't draw these right now go be a nervous wreck."
ANYWAYS, I finally finished them last week and sent them off with a tear in my eye, so happy to see my little slips head off to TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS.

Well, today I got a surprise; Fangamer emailed me, and they loved my slips so much that they scanned every single one of them and uploaded them to Youtube as a slideshow!

Just, wow. I am really flattered that they liked them so much! If any of you Fangamer people are reading this, you guys are the best!

Hey guys I graduated

Just wanted to let y'all know that I'm gonna be at the MoCCA Art Festival this weekend! It is being held at the Lexington Armory, on Lexington Avenue between 25th and 26th Streets. Hours are from 11am to 6pm on Saturday, June 6th and Sunday, June 7th. Admission is 10 dollars a day or 15 for the whole weekend THAT'S LIKE PENNIES ON THE DIME

I'll be sharing a table with and so if you're in the area look around for us. I'll have a 32 page mini of my webcomic for sale, as well as a smaller collection of other stuff and uhhh that's about it.

Today I graduate from the School of Visual Arts at Radio City Music Hall, after which I will fulfill my dream of becoming a World War II veteran.

Just thought I'd with a Happy Halloween to all you folken since I haven't had time to do any big pictures cuz IT'S SENIOR YEAR.

I will update soon for the whole two of you that still care though.

Yeah hey, I've been back from Asia since the 8th but I've been too lazy to update.

Just some quick snippets cuz I'm tired:

HONG KONG
-Hong Kong is really cool, it's not the cleanest city, but the buildings are really interesting looking, they tend to be really tall and narrow. It's like walking through a literal concrete jungle. And shop signs extend over the road like some glorious canopy of neon safety hazards.
-The food was amazing, we had MANTIS SHRIMP and it's one of the best things i've ever tasted.
-Stuff is cheap as hell over there.
-There was a THIRTEEN FLOOR MALL over there. The escalators were steeper than a mountainside.
-Went to an anime con and I never want to be hip deep in small asian kids ever again.

TAIPEI
-Taiwan has a beautiful countryside and enormous spiders.
-Taipei itself is a really nice city, sort of reminded me of Manhatten.
-Went to a museum and saw these amazing jade carvings.
-We went to the top of the tallest building in Taipei, the 101 Building. I expected it to be like, some kind of business center when we walked in, but no, the first five floors are this HUGE FUCKING MALL.

TOKYO
-Holy shit, it's like New York City only CLEAN.
-Akihabara, oh my god i've never seen so many game stores lumped next to each other in my life.
-One shop had penguins swimming around in their window.
-I had probably the best sushi I've ever tasted when we stopped in the Ginza area, not one bad piece in the bunch, and their mackeral was HEAVENLY.
-Got to go to the Studio Ghibli Museum (HAYAO MIYAZAKI STUFF, FOLKS) and it's probbaly one of the coolest pieces of architecture I've seen. It's a shame we couldn't take photos inside because it was really surreal.
-The cicadas in Tokyo are noisy little motherfuckers. I couldn't see them, but I suspect they're as big as cats and only weak to fire and rocks.

All in all it was an awesome trip, I'm just sad we didn't get to spend more than two days in each place.

And I couldn't find the Megaman artbook but I got the new Stafy game and a lot of persona stuff so hey, fair tradeoff.

SCHOOL STARTS IN A WEEK CAN'T WAIT gotta pack stuff up choo choooooo

Well, tomorrow I'm off to the Far East 'til the 8th. Going on vacation with my dad, we'll be stopping off in Hong Kong, Taipei, and finally Tokyo. I'm excited about going, I've always wanted to travel out there, and I DESPERATELY need a change of pace since this summer has been unwelcomingly suffocating.

I'm totally ripping off Craig Thompson and bringing along an extra sketchbook so I can use it as a sketch diary to chronicle my trip. Maybe I'll post some of it here, since I tend to not post about my trips cuz I'm lazy--I STILL haven't talked a lot about the trip to Italy I took two years ago. But yeah, don't expect it to be anywhere near as well drawn or as insightful as anything Craig Thompson has done. But hopefully it'll serve as a valuable source of practice for me and perhaps entertain a little more than my other stuff.

Can't wait to go to Akihabara, I need to find that 20th Anniversary Megaman artbook

Sooo somehow I managed to get picked for the junior thesis show at SVA, which took me by surprise since Woodruff's critique of my thesis consisted of him calling various things wonky and saying I have problems putting a head on a neck properly. Buuut I guess he liked it in spite of that or my teacher Keith said something so now I've gotta spend my break fixing up my pages to be NICE N PURTY.
